Alice continued analyzing the deluge of code flowing past on her datapad. It was so...vast. Her engineers always scanned her code, but they didn’t seem to read all of it. They only really looked at the most necessary parts for her continued functioning as a war machine. But this data was more than that, and she desperately wanted to understand it. For a moment she was pulled from her reading to stop to look up at Ari, who was apologizing for earlier. She gave a small, reassuring smile. “It is quite alright, Ms. Williams. When I first joined the 7th, it was an awkward experience for me as well. The first time I witnessed my teammates break protocol, it was almost like the world was ending!” At her request to show her to their bunks, her smile grew and she reached behind herself, revealing a small wire connected to her datapad plugged into the jack at the back of her head. She pulled it out, her eyes flashing a gentle blue before she turned off her datapad and quickly hopped to her feet “I’d enjoy that very much, Ms. Williams!” Now that she thought of it, Alice was sure Williams is one of the first civilians she’d ever met. Most people she knew had experience with the military prior to their meeting. She was actually very curious about what life was like outside of war. What was it like to not be constantly destroying machines into scrap? And other people as well. War was all she really knew, but she wanted to know what it was like beyond that. She also thought about family. While the concept of an alliance of individuals based on kinship was a simple one to understand, she wished to understand what it was like to experience such an association. Many people had fathers or mothers, siblings, partners, and all sorts of kin. Sometimes it felt as if the 7th were kind of like her family... Either way, Ari was the perfect person to ask about these thing. Alice simply loved opportunities to learn new things. As she led Ariana to their teams bunks, to spark conversation, she casually asked. “So what is civilian life like, Ms. Williams?”
