Sorry, I should have made that clearer. An overhead recovery is also known as an overhead break. In essence, each aircraft performs a sharp, flat break (usually to the left) over the runway - or ship, if at sea - at precise intervals. This allows the aircraft to land quickly on the runway only a short distance apart, spending the minimum amount of time in the air for landing in a hostile environment. Ideally, the first few aircraft should be landing as the last are breaking into the pattern.
