Silly nodded soberly, more than a little panicked at the crazy suicidal ritual that Ame had done. "Aye, mum. I ken fish better than any'un in th' city, even... Tazz." her voice was strangled. And then she fell back in terror as Celaena attacked Rowan.
Aery gasped, staring around at everyone's insanity. She grabbed at Ame, shaking her vigorously, sobbing and screaming. "I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD. YOU IDIOT! YOU IDIOT!" And then she wept and clutched her to her chest.
Then Ame put Celaena's words into Aery's head. [i]Choose, Aery, him or me.[/i] And she looked around in a panic, tears still streaming down her face. But she rose to her feet and stared at Celaena.
"No, Celaena. You choose. Keep me as your daughter or keep Rowan as your enemy, but don't ask me to stand by either of you to fight the other that I love. Or you'll destroy me." And weeping, she turned away and sprinted down the road, headed back for Adarlan. Not knowing exactly what she was doing, but not caring either.
After looking at each other, Ame and Silly followed, the bloodstained rope still tying them together.
