Aery bit back the tears. God, Celaena, I was just trying to be civil. Apparently my diplomacy is terribly lacking, if that happened after only thirty minutes. She got up from the table as well, motioning for the others to stay seated and enjoy themselves. She sprinted back to her rooms, fighting tears, and collapsed on the bed sobbing. Gods above, why was she so tearful? It was just a spat with Celaena... Who she hadn't seen for months. She'd hoped Celaena would have been less easily provoked. But then, she had been fairly rude, hinting that she thought that Terrasen might not be able to take care of itself without its queen. Aery sighed and rolled over. Something pressed against her back. She took the tiny vial out of her pocket, along with a piece of parchment paper. Your Majesty, For all your problems. Well, all of the visible ones. Drink this at your own discretion. ~AAery laughed bitterly, slit the wax stopper on the vial. Downed the potion before she could think rationally about it. Grimaced and doubled over as fire raced through her body, especially through her ears and head. And then... Nothing. Not even the chronic ache that she'd become so used to over the last few months. She shifted and... She heard the bed creak. Heard it. "Hello?" she asked. Her own voice echoed in her ears. "Oh my gods it worked, it worked!" She cried, laughing and sobbing in equal measure. Ame and Silly came sprinting up the stairs. "Aery, are you alright?" Silly asked, her rather low voice warm and concerned. Aery looked up when they entered, her eyes streaming. "Can you hear us, Aery?" In contrast Ame's voice was high and almost bell-like. In answer Aery just nodded, crying. And then Silly said something that made her panic. "Aery, look in the mirror..." Aery jumped to her feet, her eyes going wide. The scars were disappearing from her face... and her hair was growing. Growing? Yes. Visibly growing. "Why would Ansel do this?" Her voice held wonder. In contrast, Ame's voice held bitter irony. "I don't know, why would she make you have a baby tonight?" Aery looked. The bump was swelling too, and then... A shudder through her whole body and a flash of pain in her abdomen. She gasped, stumbled, fell to the floor. "Damn you, Ansel." To Ame she said, "Call for a midwife, would you kindly? One of the ones who won't blab to anyone." Then she cried out again with another contraction. Ame sprinted off, already soundly chewing Ansel out through their mental connection, and thinking to several of the midwives within the palace to come at the run.
