The maids that bustled about cleaning the Prince's apartments contemplated waking him so he could get ready for the day. "Should we wake him?" a small-statured maid said. Her large honey colored eyes flickered to the last set of doors that lead deep into the Prince's small wing. "That will be unnecessary." A voice from behind the maids made them jump. They turned towards the source of the voice although it was one they knew well. Standing behind them was a woman dressed in a dark green tunic with green pants and black boots. She lacked the dark colored strip of cloth the maids normally seen wrapped around her eyes but thankfully she kept them closed. "The Prince is already awake. He wakes early so he can look over some of his lessons." The woman said as the maids parted to the side so she could walk through. The woman was blind but found her way through the Prince's chambers without bumping into anything or with assistance. To the maids the woman and those like her were frightening. The maids waited until the woman was behind the doors of the Prince's chamber before speaking. "Do the mages always have to be so creepy?" Most were off put by the unemotional tones and expressionless faces of the King's mages. To many they were just meat puppets with unnerving abilities. The Prince had been awake for some time as he poured over an old text in one of the old tongues. "Prince Triver," the woman said as she approached the large desk he was seated at, "Your father wishes to see you soon and you and I have some unfinished business." Triver looked up from his book momentarily and was greeted by the sight of colorless eyes. With a small screech of fright at the sudden shock; Triver had seen her eyes before and each time he wondered what it must be like to live in a world of black. "Now that I have your attention, you must tell me what you've read." The woman placed her index finger onto the page that Triver had been reading. The Prince sighed softly. He was quite a soft-hearted man who seemed to attract the mages. "All that it says is 'the contract must be made'..." Triver was not well versed in the tongues of the old and it wasn't like the woman could read the texts herself. A small sigh came from the woman before she reached for the simple charm around her neck. It was nearly identical to the one that Triver wore around his. "I will consult the other mages but thank you, Prince." the woman bowed before fixing her posture and tossing her long hair over her shoulder. Just by looking at the two, you couldn't tell that they were brother and sister. Well, half-siblings to be exact. Triver was fair haired with lightly tanned skin and sharp features and by contrast his sister had a dark complexion with raven colored hair and delicate features. The only marker that they may have been related was within the shape of their eyes (well you couldn't tell anyways because she always kept hers closed.) They had the same general almost rectangular shape of heavy-lidded eyes, and their love of learning. It wasn't much to go on since most people had eyes like that, but there was something about their eyes that made many people wonder if this woman was the rumored bastard child of the King. "Ser'deni..." Triver said as the woman began to turn away from him. "Let us walk together. I think my father was going to choose the latest knights today." Triver was exhausted from staying up so late reading and trying to decipher the old text for Ser'deni. "If you wish then, Prince." Ser'deni's words brought a light flush to the cheeks of the Prince. He didn't know if she was truly his sister, but she was a close friend that he could rely on. "Call me Triver, please. You are too formal for someone who was known me my entire life." Triver disliked it when people he was close to were so distant and formal. "I am sorry." Ser'deni said, "But I am just a mage and you are the Prince. I must honor your place." Triver sighed and crossed his arms over his chest as they walked. He wanted to tell the woman that they were from the same mold, well at least the same man, and then maybe she would see that they were the same. Triver held little knowledge on titles for those 'below' him and usually the prince did not acknowledge such things. The walk was shorter than Triver would have liked it to be but his father was already waiting for him. The man was dressed in his finest clothes with a soft snow rabbit skin cape flowing behind him. Ser'deni parted ways with Triver to occupy a spot behind the King, as it was a customary spot for his mages to stand. The Prince approached his father with a sleepy smile before standing to the right of him with his arms folded behind his back.
