On clearly classifying characters into races, are the races loosely correspondent to biological categories on Earth? For example, would the Selachi represent cartilaginous fish as opposed to Mer being related to bony fish? That feels about right as it sets Mer as the most diverse, leaving Selachi as mostly sharks and a handful of ancient fish like rays and lamprey.
