The Coat of Madness feeds off of his fear and negative phyche, which causes him to terrible anxiety attacks and emotional break downs. He has a good heart, but his powers and tragedy in his life have caused him to be unstable and scared of the world around him. His powers scare him and he is reluctant to use them out of fear for what they could do. His Coat of Madness is a very dark and potentially violent entity that communicates with Edgar through a telepathic link with one another. The coat is uncaring and only helps Edgar just so that he save its own life and it is very vengeful. Edgar does have a love of literature and writing is his biggest hobby. He can love others, but he chooses not to because of all of the loved ones he had lost. He's never really wanted to be a hero, but the coat was able to convince to become a vigilante. Despite his psychological problems Edgar still has a view of what is right and what is wrong. He does feel great fear, but he can overcome it through the strength of his will. He never really liked being in groups and fears the idea of being on a team of superhumans who could hurt the world with their kind of power, but he's willing to try and make a difference with a team. Weakness: While his Coat of Madness is his greatest asset in battle it is also one of his biggest hindrances, the coat is like a parasite and feeds off of his madness and causes him to be unstable. The trauma in his life combined with his powers has made him almost schizophrenic and because he needs to concentrate to use his powers properly his mental state can make his reality warping unable to work properly and being in a panicked state can cause his powers to backfire on him. Illusions that can fool him will make his reality powers work against him and his powers cannot work on silver, his Coat of Madness is very afraid of the substances. Anything that can neutralize magical powers can rob him of his abilities, and aside from his powers he is basically human and shares all of the weaknesses of an ordinary human. Powers(Supernatural): Limited Reality Warping: Edgar's Coat of Madness grants him the magical power to warp reality in limited ways. He can create barriers out of thin air for defense and fire off powerful blast of energy. He can also change the properties of objects and environments through concentration, but the range of the environment that he can affect is limited to about 25 feet. What he can do with the environment is alter it in a way that can change the whether to create storms or change the landscape to grow plants His main method of using his reality warping powers is to create terrifying illusions and make them real for his enemies. Flight: He can use his powers to alter reality around himself which grants him the ability to fly at high speeds. Abilities(Natural): Edgar is extremely well versed in classic literature and is a very talented writer himself. He has decent detective skills and some study in psychology especially with how fear works in a person's mind. Gear: His Coat of Madness is where his powers stem from, it is also sentient and malevolent and feeds off of his negative psyche as well as the fear and madness of those he fights. He also has a Swiss Army knife just in case his powers become compromised and he needs some kind of tools. History: Edgar's life has been one long tragedy, at the age of five his parents died in a house fire and he was placed in an orphanage. When he was finally adopted by a couple they were not the kind of loving parents who were supportive and Edgar soon realized that he would have to look out for himself. It was at that time when he developed his love of literature and writing since they offered him a chance to escape from his current situation to other worlds in the works of fiction. Up until he had become a teenager Edgar's spent most of his time alone and didn't want to have much to do with other people. But when he was in high school he met his first love who was a girl named Sally and he felt more happy than he had been in such a long time and it felt refreshing. Things seemed to be getting better for Edgar, but then tragedy struck again and Sally died of a heart defect during their senior year at high school. They had planned to live together, but now that wasn't going to happen. Edgar didn't know what to do he was heartbroken and felt cursed. This fear deepened even more when he found his second love who would eventually become his wife and that's when he found the terrible Coat of Madness. He had been walking home by taking a shortcut through a cemetery when he was nearly blinded by a bright flash of light that seemed to radiate fear. When the light vanished Edgar saw a strange colored coat and after a couple of seconds he began to hear a voice in his head. Edgar thought he was going crazy, but the voice assured him that he was yet. It explained that it was the coat and that it was a sentient piece of clothing with incredible magical power. His curiosity had gotten the better of him and he stepped closer to the coat out of some unknown compulsion. The Coat of Madness lunged at him and latched on to his body. Almost immediately Edgar felt a horrible wave of fear and insanity wash over him and the feeling was overwhelming. The Coat of Madness told him that it was an object of incredible magical power created by beings of mighty magic of darkness, and that Edgar was now its host. Edgar didn't want to be and tried to take it off, but it would come off and the coat informed him that once it was bonded to him it would take an incredible amount of supernatural power to take off the vest and even he did then there would be a chance that it would kill him because that was how its last had died according to the coat. With no way of removing the coat Edgar tried to hide it and go on with his life, but weird and terrible things began to happen. He started having horrible nightmares and visions of blood and destruction. Thing also began happening in his waking life as well. One time when he was in the kitchen eating breakfast the entire place erupted into flames for no logical reason and he saw his parents burning in the flames. The site terrified him and he though he had gone insane, but almost just as quickly as the terrifying sight had appeared the flames had vanished along with his parents. Edgar didn't what to do and he began to fall into a state of depression and anxiety. Things would become even worse when some horrible beast from another realm sought to take the coat from him and then proceeded to kill his wife before he could do anything. Edgar had lost his beloved wife and the pain he felt was beyond anything that the coat could have created. While in a state of grief he killed the monsters, but that was meaningless now that he had lost his wife. With his life now at its absolute worst he tried to commit suicide, but the coat stopped him by turning a bullet into flowers and rat poison into wine. It would not allow him to take his own life and now he was stuck in this terrible life alone again. Eventually the Coat of Madness was able to convince him to become a vigilante as a way of spreading madness to others. Taking the name Madness, Edgar now fights crime to help feed his coat's hunger and terrorize the criminals of New York city. Hobbies: writing, reading and psychology Other: United
