eh. uh. uhhh... i guess we could know each other from high school or something. i haven't really thought about that actually. hah. the public education system in this future is, frankly, shit. kids are taught about corporations and how to be a good consumer and how to add and subtract from their bank account. 
the older characters might not be as brainwashed.
