Ehh, I'd classify that more as "edgy" than dark. It doesn't really add much weight to the story and is mostly there for shock value. When I say "dark" I mean stuff like Ghetsis' relationship with N. I guess that kind of counts as parental abuse, but it's easily one of the more subtle and diabolical examples out there.
