He's confronted with a thief as he turns the corner, the mortal holding a gun. He quickly pummels the shite out of the man, leaves him with a dozen broken bones and second degree burns from electricity, and has nary a scratch on his own hands. He continues on his way, whistling while he walks. Why should he feel bad? The thief drew first.

As for the portal, if you have trouble limiting it, I'd nix it entirely then. Could be a Deus ex Machina, and nothing ruins an RP like a Deus ex power. I just deleted Parael's phasing power since I was on the fence about it for a while too.
