Marius Marius was now pressing the advantage given to him by being on horseback to the fullest. No longer having to stay rather stationary in the middle of the battle line, the red horseman galloped here and there, baiting the enemy soldiers to think it was safe to flank Marius’ allies. Once they had committed to their attack, Marius would rush back, cutting them down from behind. Not a single man reached the blind spot of Jerod and the others while Marius was protecting the right flank. However, once the forces that were left under Marius’ command merged with Jacob and the new recruits (as Marius presumed), the cavalier was surprised that even with the battle still raging, most of his fellow warriors stopped and began greeting one another! “Ladies!” Marius said, even though Jerod and Jacob were standing right there, “This isn’t a family reunion nor a meet and greet! We’re still in the middle of a battle!” Before he directed his horse over toward their unconscious hostage, Marius felt he needed to throw in his two cents (or whatever the equivalence was in the currency of Ylisse). “I would recommend that we should learn from our recent mistakes by not splitting our group up again. If we are going take this prisoner back to the convoy, we should probably do so as a group.”
