Some of the kids thought she was a witch, having traded her sight so she could see the future. Papa said it was nonsense, always asking Oswin "if she could see the future then why didn't her father own all the inns in town?" whenever he brought it up. And Oswin couldn't answer that question, but he still didn't like her eyes. If she just kept the closed maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but she was always "not watching" as the kids in town called it. Oswin stepped into the street and waited for Scout to join him, trying to keep her in his peripheral vision.[/i][/color]
