Was this question directed at me? For me personally, in a situation like this it seems normal to not trust people on the get-go just like that. So it struck my character as odd, also you might have notices since she's petit she a little bit more scared of men. Also if someone comes in and gives a speech like that it would seem a little bit insincere.
