In that case, we can say Mori actually wants to throw Fay out of the pack - simply because she doesn't trust her. Of course, she cannot get that idea pass the Carlson as he doesn't have any issue with Fay. So like you said, they would play a cat and a mouse game, with Mori trying to dig out any kind of dirt on her to prove the pack she's rotten.
