oh hell yes. That backstory sounds f*uckin amazing!

As for their tech? They scavenge what they can from ruins (if they can even find any), and some of the more reckless survivors steal what they can from the oases- though, most of the time, they never come back. Stealing tech from an oasis directly is considered a suicide mission, but I imagine it's payed off extremely well in the few times its' succeeded. 
Mostly, I think they'd steal from oasis patrols. I mean, one or two big jeep-like vehicles, with two to four husks? Probably not too hard, if the survivors plans are good.
