I think I get what you are saying, But I guess I also didn't really make myself clear; What I really wanted to know was whether, if my character was a Husk, would s/he have to start as soulless and get caught, or can s/he have already been caught, and is now living as a survivor. Better phrasing?

That's where we start. A group of survivors, each with their own reasons, create several experimental souls, and go out to hijack some husks. They then, upon successful hijacking of husks, infuse the husks with the souls. The new souls work in the husks, and though some have strange faults and are unstable, they have a soul (or two) each. Which makes me think that there are no previous infused Husks, meaning that s/he'd have to be caught and infused first.
