"Ricken's sickness was weird, it affected certain organs and parts of his body. I don't really know much about it, at least the technical stuff, but from what I was told its a degenerative sickness. He had been infected with something at a young age, I remember he was always really pale and in bed a lot, and nothing we could do really helped him. At best we could kind of hold off it becoming worse, but we had no cure for it. He wouldn't really be cured until we were brought in by the rebels, and it was really the Uuonians that saved his life," Sasha explained, smiling as she shrugged her shoulders a little, "You see... A lot of his body was weak because of the sickness, and muscles were failing, as were some organs. To fix it they had to do a lot of surgery, somehow get donor organs and remove anything that was inflicted by the ailment. We got the organs, but he ended up losing an arm, his right leg from the knee down and a portion of his abdomen had to be cut away. I don't know how they did it but he has all of these bio-engineered limbs and little bits now, they work like the real thing but they're mechanical. So he's technically cured now since the parts of him that were wrong are gone, but he's kind of half-artificial now." Sasha may have continued on had a sudden, massive blast not startled her and Kiton alike, gripping the controls of the shuttle as it shook, rubble falling over it and banging off the vessel loudly. Once the rocking had ceased she looked out the window haplessly, wondering what in the world had happened as she couldn't see past all of the dust and debris. "Later, we need to go help!" Sasha retorted, sending the ship forward as it rose over the remains of the cliff, flying back towards the fray. Ugh... What in the hell was that attack?! No way should anything be able to amass so much energy so quickly, it was unnatural. Then again everything about this damned creature was unnatural, from the way it looked to the way it changed and fought. It had to be killed here and now, if they failed then all of Namek could be wiped out, and who knows what might happen from there. Easier said than done however, they were struggling before now and everyone looked to be injured at this point, not to mention tired. Ricken himself was once again stuck inside of a bit of rubble, his figure slamming into the rock and creating an indent on impact, leaving him fair stuck. Not only was he unable to really move but he noted his false arm was now gone, glancing over and confirming that seeing it was only now there up to the elbow joint. With gashes on his back and shoulders as well as his head too his whole body stung, and the ringing in his ears was taking a while to fade. Groaning as he tried to pull himself free of the rubble he managed to get his arm out, reaching back and slamming his fist into it, breaking away the rock and slowly flying out, panting heavily as he drooped slightly. He'd never thought it would be so difficult to secure Namek, not that any of them could have expected such a monster to be here. Glowering as the beast undid its supports and let out a roar he began gathering Ki in his hand again, frowning as it puttered out and vanished in his palm. Damn, he only just had enough energy to keep himself airborne, meaning his blade and attacks would be useless. Great, what use was he now? Well so much for helping Viral now, they had their own problems to worry about. At the very least Takeshi had managed to spare Shu a good deal of harm, with no short amount of injuries being sustained in the process. With bits of sharp rock sticking out of his legs and back it was pretty hard not to reach back and pull them out, figuring it was better to deal with the pain then open all the wounds and bleed out. Smiling amused as his brother came to the older boy let out a faint laugh, shaking his head as he wiped some of the blood from his face onto his sleeve, "Nah... It was silly of you, not going to Viral..." he retorted, chuckling weakly, "Me...? I'm fine. It takes a hell of a lot more than this to kill me, you know?" It sure was close though, just one piece of jagged rock through his back and he could have been done for, and Shu wouldn't know what had happened until he found his dead brother on top of him. Shaking himself of that thought Takeshi let out a groan, turning over and sitting on his backside as he kept his legs at an angle, glancing down at himself and scoffing. "Bah... Stupid rocks did more to me than the monster..." he grumbled, finally venturing a glance in Viral and Vegeta's direction. Jeez, the Beastman really took a hit there, both literally and figuratively, the guy was definitely a monster in of itself now. Maybe not the nicest thing to be saying about a friend but how else could one describe Viral's appearance? Hopefully he didn't go nuts, if he did they were definitely done for. Damn it... Viral was supposed to be getting better, so why had he changed? What had been wrong with the treatment he'd been administering? This was stupid, things were supposed to work, why weren't they working? Vegeta couldn't understand it, he'd followed his father's notes to the letter and even used other research to formulate the cure, and yet despite his efforts he wasn't able to help the Beastman it seemed. Smiling bitterly he stared up at the sky, letting out a long sigh before glancing back at his friend as he spoke. "Maybe he will... Maybe I deserve that, for failing you so many times," Vegeta replied, "I'm sorry Viral... This was supposed to cure you, and instead it looks like it got worse. I can't replace my father and I'm beginning to see that... It's just a bit late I'm afraid." It wasn't quite like him to be so sentimental and morbid, but with all of his efforts going up in smoke before his very eyes it was quite hard not to. Everyone was alive for now, but how long would that last? Another attack like that would likely kill them, and all of their effort to reach this point would be for nothing. "If we get back to Earth after all this, with father and mother, I'm giving up Capsule Corporation again. I was never really suited for the job anyways, and I'm thinking I've only done harm while being the one in charge." "Wow... Listen to you, getting all mopey," Yumi teased, smiling as she trudged towards her friends, still dripping from having crawled out of the lake, "Since when are you such a baby? I thought men were supposed to be all tough and not get sentimental?" Things were looking bad though, that she'd admit. With a few exceptions everyone had taken quite a hit from that attack, and the monster didn't seem done even after expending so much energy. While she and Vegeta could likely still fight it wouldn't be easy, as no doubt both of them were nearing their point of exhaustion by now. Stopping at her friend's side she squatted down, gingerly grabbing hold of him as she slung his good arm around her shoulders and got him to his feet. Battling in their current condition would be quite bad, and as far as Yumi could see there was really only one option available to them. Even as twisted as he was now Viral was by far the most ready for battle, and T'charrl and Shu were the only ones she could see really who weren't beaten up from that blast. It would be the three of them then that would have to fight, while the rest supported where they could. "Viral... Please tell me you're not done fighting," Yumi began, smiling as she glanced over at the Beastman, "We need your help... No way can we kill this thing ourselves." Haku was having a fair difficult time getting up, if only because his whole body felt terribly sore after that hit. After finally gathering his senses again he lifted up his head, looking around blearily as he tried to get a sense of where everyone else was. The closest people to him were Vegeta, Viral and Yumi, and apparently Viral had gone through quite a bit of changes in the last few moments. Wincing as he got himself to sit up he reached up to his head, cringing when he felt a damp spot through his hair, probably a concussion. Struggling to his feet Haku began to stumble over to the others, frowning as he overheard them trying to put Viral up to the fight. Earlier they wanted him to have nothing to do with it, now he was their last bet? Given everyone's condition he supposed it wasn't completely absurd, but still... They were going to risk that? "I can... I can still help, I'm not dead yet," he offered, smiling uneasily as he looked up at Viral, "I can fly you... If you want. Get you close enough to hit it."
