Personality: 
Blade can display two personalities depending on who he is talking to and what he is doing. He is often detached and lacks sympathy when actually killing vampires and seems to not actually care if he harms any humans or innocents in the way of his demon hunting, with a few exceptions of course. When around friends or in a battle with them he will most likely act rather jovial or happy, but this can vary depending on the situation of course.
History:
Eric Brooks was born in Soho, England in 1929 to only a mother, Tara Brooks who worked as a prostitute in Madame Vanity's brothel. When complications during the birth set in, a doctor was fetched that doctor was, Deacon Frost, a soon to be powerful vampire who had only recently began to acquire power within the vampire community. Deacon feasted on Tara while she was giving birth, killing her but was chased out by Tara's fellow prostitutes before he could feast on Eric. Due to the umbilical cord still being attached while Deacon had feasted on Tara, his vampiric enzymes transferred onto Eric making him a Dhampir, half vampire, half human. 

Eric grew up living in Madame Vanity's under the mother-ship of Madame Vanity herself, caring for Eric as if he were her own child. She kept his vampirism a secret to him, slipping her own blood into his meals in order to sustain his blood lust. He only found out about his dark secret after he helped a stranger on one cold December day. He saw an old man being attacked by a group of vampires and went over to help as much as he could. This essentially consisted of him smacking the vampires as hard as he could, which was not enough suffice to say. It did buy the old man enough time to successfully deal with the vampires through the use of his silver cane. The old man was, Jamal Afari, a vampire hunter posing as a jazz trumpeter. Jamal saw something in Eric, he suspected he was part vampire and confirmed these suspicions by a simple fake jewelry test. Eric spotted the fake piece of jewelry with ease, something vampires had been known to do. Jamal knew, however, that Eric was not a full vampire, otherwise he would not have attacked the vampires and would have instead attacked Jamal instead. 

Jamal moved into Madame Vanity's and trained Eric in the ways of vampire hunting along with a few other life skills, including shaving and music among other things. He became a major father figure for Eric and someone he could trust as much as he could his de facto mother. Eric was soon trained enough to begin clearing out Soho with Jamal, something they did with ease as it was almost entirely filled with weak vampires, with only a few low-level demons popping up that were quickly rid of. As Eric grew older he began to become extremely proficient in the use of sharp weaponry, specifically swords and the like, earning him the nickname of "Blade", a nickname that stuck.

Blade met his first girlfriend, Glory at that point after joining a street gang named "The Bloodshadows". The group was headed by a high-level vampire named Lamia. Blade underestimated her abilities and lost his girlfriend, Glory during the fight.
His father figure, Jamal was later lost in Blade’s first battle against Dracula, one that Blade himself barely lived through and only ended Dracula’s life for a short while before he was revived by his vampire following. Blade worked solo after that, he preferred not to get involved in people’s lives at that point and would have rather taken all the risks himself than have others take them for him. He stayed in Soho until the late 1930s. It was at this point he had joined the British army and began to fight in the war. His supernatural abilities helped him a lot, but he almost always kept them a secret, letting the big hero at the time, Captain America take all the credit for the war. After the war, Blade moved to the states in order to fight a greater number of vampires along with higher level demons. It was here that he met, Morbius, the scientifically engineered vampire who gave blade the extensive amount of powers he has today. Morbius had been created by, Deacon Frost who had been taking notice of Blade’s hunting skills in the US and refused to take Blade on himself for fear of ambush. As a result, he created Morbius, The Living Vampire. Blade and Morbius fought, resulting in the biting of Blade and Morbius being gravely wounded. Blade had known he was immune to vampire bites, but Morbius was more than just a vampire. The bit morphed Blades body into giving him the powers of a regular vampire, but without any of the weaknesses. This made his job much easier.

Blade travelled to New York after this, where he met Dr. Strange, who became one of his greatest allies. The combination of Strange’s ranged energy attacks along with his expertise of the supernatural was a perfect match with Blade’s melee attacks combined with his specific knowledge of Vampires and demons. They worked together for a while, but Blade left for greener pastures after most of the vampire threat in New York had been eradicated. 
After this, he began to get noticed by S.H.I.E.L.D for his ‘unregistered’ dealings in vampire slaying. He has recently been called to join some team they are making. Well, forced to join under threat of life in prison.
