Imagawa Clan Daimyo: Imagawa Ujizane Heir: (Have to research this) Family: Yoshimoto's daughter is married to Takeda Yoshinobu of the Takeda Clan, Yoshimoto's son Ujizane is married to a daughter of the Hojo Clan Factions: Imagawa Retainers (4/3), Matsudaira Clan (5/5) Koku: 105,000/1,000 Military: Experienced troops, ashigaru spearmen, pikemen, archers, several loyal, skilled samurai, light cavalry, some Jodo warrior monks Army: 125 companies Navy: 5 ships Prestige: 10 Growth: 10% Ruling from the castle city of Sunpu, the Imagawa have recently taken dominion over Mikawa Province, and have taken as vassals some highly noble families, such as the Matsudaira Clan. Even so, the leadership of Yoshimoto has been seen as incredibly inept, with many Imagawa retainers uneasy about the future and faltering in their loyalty. At this point, the Imagawa find themselves with a growing economy, a strong army, and a few powerful potential allies. Yet in many ways, the current daimyo is symbolically weak as an administrator, even though he has given much control over those affairs to his son Ujizane. The Imagawa begin the game cautious of Oda Nobunaga's growing influence. There have been some skirmishes between the two armies in some villages, with each army accusing the other of stealing rice. The two clans are essentially at war. Most recently, there have been sieges on minor castles and even defections of Imagawa lords to the Oda. One of the Imagawa's most useful and loyal retainers at this point is Matsudaira Motoyasu, a crafty commander and family head. The Imagawa captured all of Mikawa 6 months ago from Togogawa who arrived as the castle was falling. He is a stuch ally of the local clans and some of the western clans (Yamana/Amako). Oda Clan Daimyo: Oda Nobunaga Heir: Oda Nobutada Family: Sister Oichi, Oda Nobuo and Nobutaka (two more sons) Factions: Oda Retainers (5/3), Former Saito Retainers (2/3) Koku: 26,000 / 8,000 Military: Experienced troops, ashigaru spearmen, pikemen, archers, and some arquebus gunners, several loyal, skilled samurai, light cavalry Army: 75 companies Navy: 2 ships Prestige: 15 Growth: 35% The Oda's influence is growing rapidly, much to the ire of the Imagawa. Oda Nobunaga has recruited several extremely loyal retainers who have pledged fine, experienced soldiers and samurai to Oda's efforts. Yet the Oda family has only recently been unified, and the Saito Domain, controlled by the father-killer Saito Yoshitatsu, have taken back much of the land lost to them in Mino Province by Nobunaga's troops. With the Imagawa to the southeast, and the Saito taking lands back to the north, the Oda begin in a precarious situation. Yet the fierce loyalty of the Oda's followers could prevail over pure might, or at least provide a difficult situation for the Oda's enemies..... 3 years has passed and Oda has defeated enemy after enemy. After taking Asakura Yoshikage capital province 3 months ago and Asakura dying in the Siege, this was a great victory for Oda. However, his ally Togugawa lost Mikawa to a surprise attack 3 months before that great victory to a combined Takeda/Imagawa force. His ally now has no real lands. He still has a loyal ally in him, Asai clan, somewhat in the Otomo clan and a few other clans. He hates the Miyoshi clan.
