Basic Details
Settlement Name: Waternaux Government Type: Voted Monarchy. Everyone votes in a single person who has full control. Though if any citizen feels that the leader is becoming corrupt, they can ask to have a vote to remove them and place a new leader in their stead. (As the population grows a petition will be required to have a vote to remove them from office) Starting Location: Waternaux is placed in The Craigs just out of the reach of the zeds. it is rocky and high up, dangerous for those not accustomed to it. it is useless as farmland but has a direct source of water from the streams as it flows down the mountain and into the gulch. It has a total of 15 modified tents and 5 hand built housings that both keep out the rain and cold... mostly. Waternaux covers about a quarter mile (I don't know how much one hexagon equals.) in total. It is a labyrinth of rope bridges and climbing walls that keep the citizens up and away from the zeds. Though they are almost safe from the zombie threat, they are very exposed to humans. Anyone who is skilled enough not to hurt themselves on they way there, could just walk in. Currently Controlled Regions: The four hexagons just below the 'The Craigs' on the map. in this color please My justification for four hexagons is that though Waternaux's population is small, they have room to spread out and it's citizens are mostly experienced Hikers who know the area and can hold it.
Demographics
Total Number of Citizens: 21 Citizens Women: 9 Men: 11 All 19 or older Potential Military Force: While all citizens are battle ready 12 nonessential Citizens can be brought up to fight at any time.
Textbook Information
Waternuax is a mountain settlement made mostly of hikers and hunters who fled to the mountians to flee the zombie horde. Waternaux is placed in The Craigs just out of the reach of the Zombies. it is rocky and high up, dangerous for those not accustomed to it. it is useless as farmland but has a direct source of water from the streams as it flows down the mountain and into the gulch. It has poor housing, though plentiful space. Waternaux covers about a quarter mile (I don't know how much one hexagon equals.) in total. It is a labyrinth of rope bridges and climbing walls that keep the citizens up and away from the Zombies. Though they are almost (not really) safe from the zombie threat, they are very exposed to humans. Anyone who is skilled enough not to hurt themselves on they way there, could just walk in. The most intresting thing about this group however are their military units. As the people who fled to the mountains started banding together, they started to teach each other what they knew, several of the younger people in the group had made use of an art called 'parkour', while those who hunted started teaching the use of firearms and bows. These two arts blended and a new fighting style wa born. Most of the Citizens can outrun the horde while gaining high ground. They can use their advantage of movement for Guerrilla warfare against humans. It even helps them get around faster and more efficiently in their mountain home. This new military style is the trademark of the Waternaux forces. Brief History: Waternaux was created out of a mutual desire to survive derived from the hikers and hunters who had fled to the Craigs to escape the zombies. At first they were just waiting for help. But when help never came, they began to buckle down for the long haul. They elected a leader and began work. First they taught each other what skills they knew about survival and fighting. Then as supplies began to run low, they focused on how to scavenge and find supplies elsewhere. Now as they hit a point where they are stable, they are trying to work out how to build homes in the harsh environment of the Craigs. Current Policies: Waternaux is very selective on who it lets join its community perminantly. The Craig's is a dangerous place and those who can't pull their own weight or who can't move quickly amoung the rocks could get themselves and others killed. If someone wants to join they are given a one week trail. If they can handle it they stay, if not they send them away with enough supplies for a day so they can reach other civilizations. Waternaux has a night watch, just in case a Zombie somehow hinds its way to them. This watch is carried out by five people, two of whome have bows, two who have pistols, and one perched up high with a rifle. One bowman and one pistol an stay together and the other two pair up as well. Those who are not on watch are either maintaining equipment, out scavenging, or coming up with ways to make life safer and better. Each of those tasks is taken on by a team of five. Each week every Team has a different job. Strengths: Unique Military style, fresh water source, well trained survivalists, selective In its citizens (they only have the people they think will survive) Weaknesses: Poor housing, unfarmable land, no resources nearby, exposed to human Attack, selective in its citizens (their population and military/workforce is small) Leadership: Dante Louise Virmire is the voted monarch of Waternaux.
