Hours later
After several hours just about everyone was beat. Either physically or mentally. When it was apparent that the majority had reached their limit Kagerou sent everyone to the medical tent to rest. She didn't say it but she knew that rescue was over, all that was left now was recovery. Several other former students had joined them by now and were sent off to wait with the others.
Kagerou
With everyone else done and out Kagerou continued on her own. As many of the students found she seemed to have a tireless energy reserve. As far as anyone knew she never needed sleep, food, or drink. It was something that gave her the upper hand in most situations. Lifting wreckage with both her strength and TK she could lift weight much greater than anyone currently present. She appeared to be looking for something in particular. However she was careful to pay respect to any bodies she found along the way. With it all she wanted to try and get through as much of this herself as she could. Everyone else didn't need to see this.
Estella
Exhausted she occasionally drifted into sleep before waking again with a start. During the search she had found someone clinging to their last moments. It was Ororo Munroe, Storm. She did her best to keep her mind occupied and going. Knowing Gale would be heartbroken she dove a bit deeper into the teacher's mind than she should. Ordinarily it would have just been ill advised but in the turmoil she had found herself mentally locked together with the woman. It was not something she was prepared for. But in a strange way it gave them a chance to talk. Things can go much faster in the mind than in reality. Seconds felt like minutes. But Storm was no stranger to this kind of interaction. She knew what had happened and tried to tell Estella as much as she could in the time she had. When it began to look like the end was near she made sure to express her love for Gale. She was like a daughter to her and that made a very strong impression in the alien's mind. Toward the end it was like the world was falling apart and the memories of Storm's past began to flash and swirl around. With the grip loosening Estella finally broke free. Fresh in her mind Ororo's memories were stuck in her head. She had done this before with Ben. Something clearly was wrong because coming away with things like that should not happen. Perhaps it was that others didn't have the same mental defenses her kind did. Or the unknown side effects of the weapon she encountered years ago. Unlike last time though she was better able to discern the difference, most of the time.
