Basic Details
Settlement Name: Samuel’s Oasis Government Type: Absolute Monarchy Starting Location: Samuel’s Oasis (more commonly referred to simply as the ‘Community’) is nestled between two forks of a river leading south past Hagger Lake. The community has taken up residence in an abandoned farm, with King Samuel taking up residence in the farmhouse, while the rest have converted the barn into a fairly comfortable living quarters. Meetings take place in the house’s dining room. This is also where meals are served, though they are eaten wherever they feel like it. In their bed, in the dining room, floating on a raft on the river, wherever. The farm is surrounded by a simple chain link fence, already with gaps here and there that need to be repaired. Overall the area is decently secure, but the patrols are a bit light for how large the farm is, and someone could easily sneak right in if they wanted to. Current Policies:

Curfew - Excluding the border guards, there is a strict curfew. Unless otherwise directed, the border guard (who also act as the night patrol, and overall security) may detain anyone seen outside past sunset, and lock them in the makeshift jail for the night. However, by no means may a guard harm anyone who isn’t an immediate threat, whether they’re breaking curfew or not. Additionally, nobody may enter or leave the community between sunset and dawn, excluding known messengers.
Standing Army - There will be a standing army of 4 men/women at all times, prepared to protect the community with a moment’s notice. This standing army acts as the border guard, security force, and police force. Volunteers are preferred, but they may be drafted if required. The army is rotated biweekly, serving two weeks at a time before being replaced by the next group.
Strengths:

Marksmanship - Just about everyone in the community has grown up in the country, hunting with their fathers from the time they could be trusted to not shoot their eye out. As a result, they’re all capable of some fairly impressive shooting. None of this will matter if they are up close, of course, but from a distance they are a very formidable opponent.
Discipline - Having grown up in the country, in more “traditional” homes, a lot of the people living here are a bit sheepish. That is to say, they are used to being told to do something, and doing it right then. As a result, they are unlikely to argue, and will just follow their leader like good little sheep.
Weaknesses:

Discipline - At times, though, everyone could be a bit too agreeable. Hell, they would probably jump off the Crags if ol’ Sam told them it was necessary.
Skirmishing - Although the populace may be good with a rifle, if they get into close quarters with the enemy, they are in some real trouble. They aren’t the strongest of folk, and rely a bit too much on keeping some distance between them and their opponents.
