Which could help her some. ESI is like an energy version of Sonar, look up platypuses and 6th sense, that will allow her to 'see' things as they pull close so she can avoid them. She doesn't even have to have her eyes open to use it. Also, she can create a light if that would be easier for you. Though using both at the same time isn't the best and [i][u]will[/u][/i] drain her mageblood faster, so use ESI to get close and switch over to the light is the best tactic. It would likely also allow Alaira to get closer without being nailed by any attacks until she's ready. 

And, who has those Ethers Lucilia gave Lyn? I don't think the kid has them anymore as she gave them to someone, but I can't recall whom.
