I'd suggest it be something where he would've believed he was doing the right thing and performing his duty right up to the point where she revealed he'd been played. It all depends on exactly what it was that got stolen, its importance to his people and just how much of an idiot he looked when everyone realised what had happened. Of course, there's also the option that no-one back home knows the item has been stolen yet, and he's in a mad chase to recover it quickly so he can replace it before his mistake is discovered. Again that would give him reason to be part of the team, as he'd be there following her.
[@SimplyJohn] Very clever. I'll wait and see what [@Kalas] says though. Given that his character is now an outlaw from his people, maybe he was just following her not for his government/reputation anymore, but more for personal revenge. She did cause him to loose his rank and reputation by playing him like a sci-fi fiddle after all. Probably some shame over being seduced as well? I'll wait and see what [@Kalas] thinks or if he has other ideas.
