Guardian rolled backwards about 2 meters away from Nicoli once the assassin had finished speaking. While the assassin's words were convincing, Guardian knew bait when he saw (Or in this case heard) it.

Guardian had allowed Princess Rosella to get kidnapped while they were attending The Ambassador's Ball, a highly anticipated social event that almost always entertained assassination attempts as well as guests. Guardian had been fighting with a ghoul at the ball and while he was distracted, Rosella had been abducted and a note from the prince was left in her place.
