Alula had stayed with her hands over her eyes for a few moments, not noticing as the half-elf stood up. She had far too busy panicking about what had just happened, what she could have done. She felt like hyperventilating and running, but her body was frozen. She could feel the entire bar staring at her, and she felt the need to fall back to the floor and hide. What happened next surprised her. She expected the man to run away, many had before, but instead she felt something being placed over her head. It wasn't her hat, but a piece of cloth. He was helping her hide her face. She again felt a lose for words at his kindness. She uttered a soft and slurred "Thank...you." From under the cloth. More gentle touches, this time from the man in the armor. She winced, bracing herself for the burn that she knew was coming, but she never felt the pain. That was new. Even his words held a kindness that was foreign to Alula. She could hear the paladin calling the barkeep out on his actions, but his words felt far away and faded.
