You won't be able to figure anything out about them, save for the fact that something else may or may not have drained the grass' life force.

The grass is cut by the weed wacker, and all the little clippings spread around the forest... quickly rotting them, as well. You are now surrounded by the 'evil' grass and plants, and probably very lucky that none of those clippings were accidentally inhaled/eaten by anyone in the nearby area.
