Name Arezhan Aetanezh Rokanh Titles/Alias: Prince of the Raukas, Lord of Danuria. The Yellow Goat of Danu, the Sickly Lord. Age: 34 Gender Male Appearance Personality: Arezhan is an proud, ambitious and opportunistic man. While not directly aiming to succeed his father he's still mindful enough to quickly grab and pursue any opportunity of advancement. Arezhan is also very self-conscious about his image, (a trait imprinted on him by his late mother) and because of that he goes to great lengths to ensure that others treat him with the respect and admiration that he thinks he deserves. His inability to take part in the recent conquest of the Turebontes still gnaws at his pride and is the main motivation for his incursion into Arlos. Arezhan also places great value on his immediate family, specially his daughter and so far only legitimate child. He treats his father and siblings with the proper respect, despite being closer to some and borderline hostile with others. As with most Raukas, Arezhan loves his horses and the life on the steppes, regarding the settled peoples as weak and soft. This opinion has created some conflict with his daughter who defends that the future of the Rauka people lays in settling down among the fertile lands taken from the Turebontes. And as is norm with the Rauka upper class, Arezhan is also a lover of gold and jewels. The Prince is also a religious man. Always paying lavish tribute to the gods of his ancestors and holding the council of shamans and wise women in high regard, never ignoring the omens that they bring Bio: Son of the great Rauka King Aetan, Arezhan was born in the city of Zarezhonye, capital of the Rauka Tribal Confederation and one of the few cities of the steppes. His mother was Aetan's second wife and as such he was never quite as well regarded by his father as his two older siblings, whose late mother still filled the King's touch. As such Arezhan was mostly raised by his mother who ruled the Danu tribesmen who dwelled in the region of same name. Despite not being among the King's favorites Arezhan was still a prince of the "Royal Raukas" and as such grew up with the associated privileges and pressure that came with the position. Learning how to ride and fight at an early age, most of Arezhan's childhood and early teens were spent trailing after his mother and learning from her. Some time after his 17th birthday Arezhan joined his father and siblings in a series of campaigns against the Yavana settlers of the coast. It was during this campaign that the Prince took his first wife, the daughter of a local Yavana merchant. As usual the campaign ended with the Raukas unable to overcome the fortified colonies and instead levying a heavy tribute from the settlers before returning to their steppe homelands. The next decade was rather peaceful by Rauka standards, with only minor skirmishes between the tribes. Most of the skirmishes that Arezhan fought in this period were against minor raiding parties and bandits. Nothing that would earn him glory and wealth, which greatly bothered him. It was during this time that his first wife committed suicide. Leaving the Prince widowed and with only a single daughter, Aetana, whom Arezhan took special care in raising himself, just as his mother did to him so many years before. His mother also died during this peaceful interregnum, murdered by one of her concubines (the man was later flayed and impaled as its custom). The death of his mother hit him specially hard and Arezhan spent the next years mostly drawn to himself not bothering to do much beyond his basic duties as lord of the Danu. Arezhan was finally dragged from his stupor by the war against the Turebontes, a group of settled tribes neighboring to the Raukas who occupied an extremely fertile series of valleys and plains. The chance to win more glory and wealth along with the continued insistence of his daughter finally sparked the fire back into Arezhan's soul and he eagerly prepared his tribesmen to ride in support of the king, mustering a respectable host of horse archers, headhunting maidens and heavy cavalry. Unfortunately, just as he was about to set out Arezhan was stuck by a heavy fever. Unable to join the campaign, the Danu warriors were instead led by his daughter. The war against the Turebontes was a glorious and short affair and the armies of the Rauka smashed those of their opponents. The Turebontes tribes either being exterminated, enslaved or expelled by the victorious Raukas. All the while Arezhan trashed on the sickbed. To add to the humiliation, his own warriors returned laden with wealth and captives, basking in the glory of victory while their lord agonized back home. And since then Arezhan has been know as the "Sickly Lord" and since then the Prince has been looking for a chance to wash away this failure and restore his honor. Said chance appeared years later with the lands of the west in chaos Arezhan now sees the chance to restore his standing and influence among his peers and also amass a respectable amount of loot and slaves while the "soft lords" of Arlos are too distracted with each other. And who knows? Maybe even take some of their lands for himself if the opportunity arises. Heirlooms/Equipment: A finely bred horse (with Scale armor). Scale Armor (Steel). Lance.
