Why wasn't Yari able to remember them? Had she taken a hit to the head when that thing had killed her? Come to think of it, was this even really her? Ugh, everything was just so confusing right now and Suto really couldn't handle the stress that was building up in everyone. She was their friend, she had to be, and yet she had no idea who any of them were. While at first he placed it as some sort of sick joke there was no real way it could be that easy; Yari looked earnestly disturbed by the accusations and questioning, so she really had no clue who they were. Suto could feel a lump in his throat forming at the sight of it, blinking back tears and managing a weak smile. Maybe it was just temporary, a sort of revival sickness if someone died. After all, everyone knew exactly what happened when someone perished in this world, but nobody had experienced someone coming back. Yeah... That had to be it. All they needed to do was wait for a little while, maybe an hour at most, and things would be back to normal. That was the hope anyways, yet it became increasingly obvious that Yari's problem wasn't going to just vanish. Try as he might to be optimistic over the situation Suto found himself inevitably becoming crestfallen; one of his dearest friends, and one of the very few people he knew from the real world no longer recognized him. While it was somewhat of a taboo to discuss their real lives now he couldn't help but think of it, feeling like a tie to their reality had just been severed. If this was the condition their friend was in now what would she be like back home? Would she recognize them then or still be clueless? On one hand he should be elated that Yari was alive and well, but with her unable to even remember those closest to her it was almost like she wasn't here at all. There was a very real possibility now that once they beat this game they may go back alone, him and Alex, and never see Yari again. It was a terrifying prospect, just as much so as the brief spell of panic when they had seen her die. When they had finally made it to the inn on the next floor Suto felt like anything but partying. Generally at this point his Col would be nearly all spent, music would be filling the air and everyone would be having a good time. Maybe that would be for the best, just something to get everyone's mind off of the problem and put tensions at ease. Much as the Monk might like to throw a party for that very reason however he wasn't about to; not only would throwing a party now be grossly inappropriate, but he sincerely doubted anyone, himself included, could get behind it. Instead of a celebration then everyone gathered in the suite of the inn, a somber mood settling over like a dark rain cloud. Everyone knew what the topic of conversation was going to be, but for a while no one dared speak, an uneasy silence falling over the group. Finally Nero broke that silence, though Suto almost wished he hadn't. So Yari did remember something, just not them. It was of little solace that she knew this wasn't just a game, though at least that meant she'd not throw herself willy nilly around in dungeons. If she were to die again... Suto didn't even finish the thought, shaking his head to rid himself of it completely. He needed to remain positive even with things as bad as they seemed, someone had to at least. Just content with being a bystander for now he intended to keep out of the discussion until Fitch spoke up, sounding rather upset. Suto was just as upset as his other friend, but he couldn't see what shouting or getting angry was going to do for them. "Fitch... It's not her fault..." he offered meekly, frowning up at the other boy. What did Fitch just say then? Maybe it was a slip of the tongue what with everyone being under stress, or maybe it was some kind of metaphor. Even to himself though Suto knew that wasn't the case, calling himself stupid for thinking such a thing. How could he have been unaware of this? Did the others around him know? He wasn't sure but he was almost afraid to check, not wanting to confirm that he was in fact the only one left out of the loop. Why though? He was nothing but supportive of them, and he knew they had been dating at the very least. So marriage was a big step up, even in Sword Art Online, but it didn't change his view of them. They were his friends before all else, the fact they might be married changed nothing. So why then was he never told? Did they not want him to know? There was probably a reason, yet with everything else already going on it was a bit too much for him to handle. Without so much as a word edgewise Suto rose to his feet, looking down at the floorboards crestfallen. He thought he was their friend, and a good one at that, but somehow this revelation felt like a betrayal; to say he loathed them for keeping it was a big stretch, because he didn't. If anything he was confused by the news, and inevitably came to the conclusion that for whatever reason he was the problem here, and maybe his knowing would have somehow ruined it. Not giving anyone a single glance he turned then and went for the door, silently leaving and going off to his own private room he'd rented out. There was just no way he could handle all of this right now, it was way too much. Shutting the bedroom door behind him Suto stood there for a moment, just staring down as he had been before he finally slumped to the floor, tears welling up as he rubbed at his face. Everything that had happened today was just killing him on the inside, and now that he'd learned of the marriage he just felt hopelessly unable to help his friends. If he wasn't able to do such a simple thing then what good was he to them?
