Farvis felt something cut through the wrist of his space suit at rub against the wrist of his medical suit.  In the slowed down time of Alpha state he was able to pull his hand out before it could do anything more.  He then drew his shotgun and fired three times into the hole, the motion of the shotgun taking him several seconds to pump the next shell into the firing chamber as he perceived it.  After he fired it he pulled himself out of the Alpha state so that he wouldn't wear himself out any more, abut kept the gun trained on the hole.

"Something's in there." he said, "It felt like some creature tried to cut my hand off."
