Looks like it won't be happening now, so I might as well come clean. Revel's plan was to coax the Immortal into letting him discharge a massive amount of electricity point-blank into his brain, disrupting his higher mental functions or at least giving him a whopping case of amnesia. It wouldn't damage the brain, but short-circuit it enough to silence the Immortal's mental anguish.
I suppose Gloria burying your whip in the ground puts a damper on that?
...Oh, and does setting off a grenade this close to a reactor have negative effects on said reactor? Like exploding?
According to a number of reactor schematics I've perused since this mission started the area we're in isn't consistent with the actual area that houses the nuclear reactor. We're more likely just in a neighboring part of the facility not close enough to actually set the reactor off otherwise all our attacks would have been a lot more careful. We're more likely on a direct line to the reactor core but not actually right next to it. Besides, this is what the area surrounding the reactor looks like, you'd be a fool to think we were fighting here. I have my doubts about whether it will actually puncture his skin. If it was that easy to kill him he wouldn't be seeking a fission reaction to end his life in.
You know it occurs to me that what they should be doing is disabling the reactors ability to explode...
I did some research into that actually and once a reactor is deactivated it takes days for the uranium isotopes to decay meaning that even if the reactor was turned off it could still overload. Think of it like this, shutting the reactor down would be like deciding not to put any more wood on a campfire, you know the campfire will burn itself out because you're starving it for fuel but it still has enough to burn for a good while.
