Background:
Ried was nine when his parents died in a car accident and for a long time he lived with his aunt, his very odd aunt. Ried had always been rebellious and a little on the wild side but his aunt was always patient, maybe too patient because by the time he was twelve he was constantly in trouble both in school and out. His aunt had tried to respect his parents wishes and had kept him away from the family secret for a very long time but when his 'potential' started to show at age 15 she was left with no choice but to tell him the truth about his heritage... Ried was born to a very long, very old line of Witches. His parents had left their 'Coven' with the hopes of giving him a normal human life far from the knowledge of Strigoi, Moroi, Dhampirs, Daemons, Ghosts, Shifters, and Magic.... thinking that perhaps he'd be safer but they'd been wrong. Ried's aunt finally told him the truth on his 16th birthday... that Strigoi had caused the car crash, that everything he'd thought he knew was a lie made up to protect him. Understandably, he took it a little hard but suddenly his aunt's pushing him into martial arts classes to 'occupy his time' made a lot more sense... So did all those meditation exercises she'd forced on him to teach him to 'control his temper'. Ried had a lot to catch up on, but when he finally decided to learn he'd thrown himself headfirst into his studies.... Now, at nineteen, he's one of the most skilled of his kind and still refuses to join a 'coven' or follow the 'rules'. He practices alone and despite not being as strong or as fast as a Dhampir he fights just as well... and he has a score to settle with Strigoi.
