Your post was really great by the way. I just read through it again. I'm going to show a bit more of her and then perhaps I'll end with sending word via a guard that cares for her to you that she is going to go on this adventure and would love to figure out a way to have you accompany her.

She'll request that your guy meets her somewhere the next afternoon to come up with a plan to make it happen. 

Let's say they've been friends for a long time, but as noted in your post - living in the palace and being royalty stunts her abilities to communicate and continue to develop their friendship. We'll say its been over a year since they've seen one another face to face, normally him just seeing her as a member of the crowd when her father opens the castle for a festival or event.
