The hundred year war between Midland and Kesh is over, both sides left weakened by that seemingly never ending war. Though the fighting is over many mercenaries were left with out the amount of work they had grown accustomed to. Some became bandits, others found work with feuding lords and one formed a guild for out of work mercenaries. Offering jobs from hunting bandits to fighting monsters and everything in between they became known as The Vanguard. Five years have passed since the war ended and The Vanguard has become the largest guild for fighters, having stations in both nations. [hider=The Vanguard] The vanguard is a work based guild with a first come first serve on jobs. They accept people from any race and culture, they accept almost everybody and anybody who wishes to join. Most jobs are posted up on a bored for any to take, and there is no real "leader" each outpost has some one who runs the day to day operations, but they are mostly their to provide food and shelter for trailing members as well as having various local work. The main guild hall is located on an island in the Serpent sea. Seeing as they take no sides. Sitting in the narrowest part of the sea it is only a few days travel by boat from either country. This is also where the guild master Alluwin sits. Though he is more of a figure head and deals with running every thing his opinion is still respected through out the guild. [/hider] [hider=Kingdom of Midland] Midland is a thriving land ruled by a king, areas divided out among lords and noble families, the large country has man diffrent kinds of climates, from the humid swamps of the south, to the frigged mountains to the north. Beyond those mountains is the frozen waste, a untamed land with tribal people who for the most part keep to themselves, rarely ever crossing the mountains. The west coast is the great Ocean and to the east is the Serpent sea and the nation of Kesh beyond that. In the center of the land is the where the king sits, The city of Landania is were the king sits, and the central government for the kingdom is. [/hider] [hider=Cities of Kesh] Unlike Midland, Kesh is separated into only 5 cities. Ista, Iris, Simie port, and Lampoor all sit on the coast, near the mouths of rivers. The further inland you go the more the land becomes nothing more then barren waste land and vast desert. The city of Telken is the only one not a long the ocean but sits on a river. The five cities are connected. The majority of the population lives in these cities, then there are the travailing caravans that connect them and what is left live mostly in nomadic tribes in the desert. Each city governs themselves, an elected council making the laws and taxes.[/hider] [hider=Islands of Hayway] To the west of Midland is the island nation of Hayway, Several island chains that have banded together, producing some of the finest sailors in the world, and some of the best ships.[/hider] Magic Most magic users fall under one, and only one of the two fallowing types. Also focus on one type of element at a time. [hider=Ability-magic] Ability-magic is using magic to enhance your own body, or elements to enhance your attacks. Though it requires little concentration as it acts upon instinct.[/hider] [hider=Cast-magic] Cast-magic is the ability to cast spells, though this requires full concentration but it is considered the more powerful forms of magic, able to create illusions, control elements. as well as heal and raising the dead. Though if the caster gets distracted and loses concentration the spell won't work, and they also need time to say incantations.
