He was no stranger to soul stealing, monstrous demons...after all, he had a history of being one. Of course, he wasn't going to mention this as the top reason why he had credentials to help out on this issue...another thing was to consider the fact that he wasn't as strong as he was before. Nothing was quite as strong as running on a human soul, and his horn didn't seem to be as functional in energy gathering since he killed his brother. In this odd world, where energy flowed oddly, investing any amount of energy into amazing feats could possibly drain him dry of energy...but he wasn't going to be selfish, it was only by others that he got to this point, it was only right that he did the same.
