As a bystander can I just comment your characters sexual orientation shouldn't be their defining plot. It's what I got from what I read and I'm not the GM so hey, what do I know. But Straight Chars don't revolve around solely being straight and that isn't their defining trait so it should work both ways.
I disagree with this. Heterosexuality is seen as the norm, and there exist a number of people who are prejudiced against homosexuality. Depending on the amount of education received, a homosexual character may grow up confused and conflicted about his or her gender identity and sexual orientation, not to mention potentially having to deal with homophobia. I think it's entirely feasible to have a character's central conflict revolve around his or her sexuality, if said sexuality is something different from the norm.
I mean he may do things differently but from roleplays, especially with the likes with this scope shouldn't hinge upon romance too heavily or they'll end up seeming corny.
I also disagree with this. Whether a romance is corny or not depends on how well it's written, not the fact that it's a romance in a Cold War-esque setting. I'm a hopeless romantic too, and I plan to write a romance between a Magi character and a Tech character. If you personally find it corny regardless of how well-written it is, I can hardly do anything about that. But I certainly don't mind a character focused on romance, and no one else has complained so far either. Also, according to the forum rules, if you're not participating in a forum game, you're advised to refrain from posting just to give critique.
If you are not a participant in an RP or an interest check, but are merely there to critique the thread, you should probably not be posting. Trolling threads is one of those things that the mods come down heavily and we are interpreting that liberally because actions that discourage people from posting interest checks run contrary to the entire point of the Guild – it should be a safe place for all roleplayers.
I know I'm new here, and you have thousands of posts, but that isn't going to stop me from pointing to the rules when I think it's necessary. If you're going to give advice, I think you should at least get yourself properly involved in the game first.
