I feel like Ruben could possibly have some sort of relationship with the Fixers, given that he is a quite talented tinkerer and would probably have needed them in order to get parts for his leg. They probably won't be friends, or even act as if they actually like each other, but they would have a professional sort of relationship. His power is the kind that he doesn't really need to hide, since it's not something he can use for anything but outright battle situations.
I would be fine with that. And since I now have a few moments and everyone seems to like the Fixers: The Fixers: They are a relatively small group. They were founded by Piper and four other people. Two of those have died. They've "carved" surface the city into Three zones. Piper has a Zone and so do the other two founders. Piper's scavenging zone is not in the zone where she resides. To keep each other safe they all use code names. Pipe keeps track of about 30 Fixers. They are encouraged for their own safety not to induct any mutants into the Fixers. (But that doesn't mean they wont help them.) Every so often the founders of the Fixers get together, pool what they have, and gauge their next move. The end goal for the Fixers is escaping the city. But until that point they strive to gain/maintain power sources. Fixers do not actively go against the Crusaders or the Technopath. However indirect action that cannot be traced back to an individual is not discouraged. They are, after all, scavengers, not warriors.
