To sum it all up: Mankind is spanning across millions of stars and instead of providing galactic peace and have a Utopia where reasonable people run the state in harmony with the other Alien races we have something... different. A brutal theocratc dictatorship which is at war with EVERYONE and is run for a large part by the church which reveres the, now incapasitated for 10.000 years, Emperor of Mankind as our one and only god eventhough he himself said gods didnt exist...
