Right, I remember that scene now.  I'll just say she decided to hide out offworld for a while and ran into Hal in a bar off off world.  They got to reminiscing about when they were kids and...  The next morning Hal got woke up by the guardians calling him to inform him John and most of the people of Earth were dead.  She watched the bad news over his shoulder.
