You have to activate your aura for it to defend you. Getting caught off guard and stabbed in the fact with a sword will still kill you.


But, RWBY does have this thing where the Grimm are all evil and grr, and then the Hunters and Huntresses proceed to stomp the shit out of them all the time, and have a defensive Aura to protect themselves....
