Kijani arrived at the gym to find many other students already waiting. They were loud, and boisterous, and she was starting to just want a book and a quiet corner. So she took a seat far away from the others, near a boy and some red-haired girl with massive headphones. She looked closer. No, earmuffs. They weren't feeding sound, they were blocking it. Again, she felt lucky, to have a power that she didn't have to worry about that much. There was a generic looking man in a black suit hovering nearby, and as Kijani looked around, she noted another. She wondered who they were for. She also wondered if they were her grandmother's people. Sure, her grandmother had 'gone into retirement', but Kijani knew that just meant she wasn't doing the actual footwork of the job anymore. Amanda Waller never quits- Kijani had grown up at her grandmother's knee hearing that phrase. She knew she wanted to be just like that. Unquenchable, unstoppable- and powerful. Drawing herself from her memories, she chanced to wave at the two she was sitting near. If that girl needed something that big to block sound, then perhaps Kijani didn't need to speak.
