As long as religion cannot conform with the current dominate viewpoint, or, conform with the current dominate social trends -- the old viewpoints of religion will expire faster to a point that general viewpoint of religion was cease to be valid. With education, understand the age of the universe, the age of the earth. Plus, understand the how long humans have been on the earth as they are now, and how they evolved over millions of years. The real testing of change, is the understanding that humans at their current forum and biological needs: have to evolved to something different just to leave this solar system. When humanity understands whatever they can do, we as a species are doomed to extinction. 

It is a biological fact, that the Y chromosome is slowly breaking down from generation to generation. Humans, will be long gone before the sun turns into a red giant. Even if we could build starships, and move out into the starts ... our current biology is a primary factor why this is fantasy. In time, the Y chromosome will break down to a level that will not give us diversity and the effects of interbreeding will take hold. 

The only logical outcome with humanity, in time, humanity will be confronted with the problem of designing our DNA. If by choice or by force, religion will expire because it cannot adapt when God changes from the father of mankind to the grandfather of mankind. 

All religions, now or in the past: will face their own extinction.
