Sapphire Rode - The Shelter
Abel was still angry. Sapphire could tell but he was choosing to keep quite about it. The mission was more important after all. Sapphire discovered that she was unable to apologize for her behavior to Abel. There wasn't a way in which she could both say she was sorry for the manner in which she acted without taking back the things she'd said to Shiro. Gren was rational, while he may not like how Sapphire had reacted he could recognize that the faunus needed more self control. Abel on the other was much more emotionally driven. There wasn't anything she could say to him that would make this right without acknowledging that her words to Shiro had been false. Despite how important Sapphire considered the team's unity such a lie wasn't quite within her grasp. As they entered the building Sapphire got a good look at the layout. The place was filled with cages housing all sorts of animals. Sapphire looked around at each one. This was cruel, some of them were kept in enclosures no bigger than a bedroom closet and others only marginally bigger. Didn't they have facilities to let these animals out in. Sapphire had had a dog in her youth. Several acres of land hadn't been enough space for him. He'd run and jump and bark till someone came to drag him back to the house. He never wanted to be cooped up and Sapphire couldn't imagine that any of these animals were thrilled with the arrangements either. That was when she realized something. Almost all the animals were sleeping. The ones that were awake for the most part were lying down and all of them looked tired as if they'd run a long distance. Had they been sedated. Sapphire looked the area in disgust. This wasn't right, even if the animals had high aura levels, no matter what they could learn here these facilities were not set up to help the animals the way they should be helped. The long tongued dog rather surprised Sapphire but no trace of that could be seen on her face. A nasty thought had just occurred to her about this place but she had no supporting evidence so for now it was merely a terrible idea. Around this time Sapphire's scroll beeped signalling she'd received a text message. Hoping it was a status report from Gren Sapphire was only slightly disappointed to discover it came from Shiro instead. The gist of it was rather disturbing. The presence of Faunus on the island was rather unsettling as was large lizard creatures with an unnerving ability to control a semblance. Having to fight animals was something that worried Sapphire. In general animals were unpredictable and because their brains didn't function the same way as a humans her semblance served only to agitate and confuse them. I'll feel better when we find someone who can shed some light on what's going on here."
