Shiro's reactions amused the faunus to no end. Aside from the drip of anxious perspiration and rather goofy expressions, Shiro's responses communicated themselves on another sensory level to his fellow faunus. The boy could smell his apprehension and wonder, and reveled in the attention gained by his friend and he. Chortling, he pushed himself to his feet. “Uh huh!” He pointed a pudgy finger at a screened glass door set in the Shelter's outer wall. Undoubtedly it had been the portal by which he and his reptilian companion had gained access to the outside, but its drab coloring rendered it very much like the wall to an unobservant eye. As the hunter-in-training continued to speak, the boy appraised him with a somber expression, patiently drinking in all that he had to say. Shiro's mention of being a former patient at the shelter earned him a bemused look, however, but the boy made no comment save for, “Uh, sure, I'll take you.” The mention of Porrige's brothers restored his eager-to-show-off mood. “Yeah they do! I haven't seen the oldest one in a while, but the middle one can grow stuff too! They're kinda pokey...” Contemplating that statement, the boy made his way to the screen door and fumbled at the latch. In a few moments he had it open enough to push open the inner glass door as well. He held the spring-loaded screen door open long enough for Porridge to dart inside. Seemingly forgetting Shiro, the boy slipped in as well, letting the screen swing closed. Inside was a small room with several cabinets and a small refrigerator, evidently where food for the non-animal denizens of the Shelter was stored. A flight of stairs led downward, which the kid and his iguana busied themselves with descending. They ignored a hard-to-notice security camera embedded in one of the room's upper vertices, the one closest to the outside door. Though unknown to any of the beings present, the security feed was not constantly monitored, rather collected and saved in a hard drive for later examination should an event occur. Another door led into the very room in which various scuffling noises masked the presence of Abel and Sapphire, though this too went unacknowledged by the bear faunus and his charge.
Abel Fulgurate
As he was wiping the remainder of dog saliva from his face, a noise from Abel's pocket announced that his scroll had received a message. A look at Sapphire confirmed that she'd received one too. The guardian perused Shiro's text, finding both validation and a threat of conspiracy. “Faunus,” he wondered aloud as he looked at the images. “Pets with semblances. Hmm.” “Right...” Though Abel knew it was time to move on, he couldn't help but feel obligated to do something about these pets' condition. He cast an eye about the sad, uncharacteristically sleepy faces, and his frown deepened. A few moments later, he had arrived at the same conclusion that his comrade had: sedation. “Hold up.” After glancing around to confirm a lack of security cameras, Abel hefted the Ampere and swung it at the nearest cage. His forged blade sheared easily through the chicken-wire fences, but his self-control prevented any damage to the pens' occupants, effectively freeing the creatures from their confinement. Some of the animals jumped, some looked up, and some merely remained where they lay as their barriers were destroyed, one after another. Abel suspected how foolish his action might have seemed to Sapphire, but just as she appeared to lack any impetus to explain the rationale behind her horrid behavior, Abel did not deem it necessary to tell her why he had forcibly opened the pens. Perhaps the girl was smart enough to figure it out for herself: team SASG was officially tasked with raiding the place, meaning that they were free to exercise their own judgment in approaching the situations they encountered. Aside from giving the pets some breathing room once their and relieving some stress on Abel's part, a little chaos helped ensure that anyone they encountered would be occupied by the animals running around as well. His breathing unaltered by the momentary exercise, Abel barged through the doors and down the stairs. With no other readily usable downward route, trying to avoid security cameras served as a useless endeavor, so he opted instead to rush past them. While he didn't look back, he could hear soft footfalls in his wake, denouncing the presence of Sapphire following him closely. Abel couldn't decide if it was her intent or not to use his large frame as a human shield should they encounter opposition. He reached the bottom of the staircase with no hindrance either seen nor heard, and found himself in a large, pristine hallway. Though the walls gleamed a creamy tan color, the white tile and brilliant lighting gave off every impression of a medical facility. The guardian had just finished a preliminary search of his surroundings, determining them to share the same odd emptiness present in the rest of the facility so far, when a commotion to the right caused him to shrink back in surprise. Not knowing if the room across from the stairs could be entered, he turned to retreat back up the staircase and avoid detection. As he maneuvered past Sapphire, he muttered, “People coming. Should go invisible and follow them.” A few moments later a pair of women marched into view. One of them, heavy-set and with red hair tied in a bun, wore a long, pale green coat, and her companion, a tall, tawny-haired, black bear faunus, wore an expensive-looking purple suit jacket, dark pants, and carried a clipboard. From her stiff bearing and obvious confidence, it could be inferred that she held some sort of administrative position. They said nothing at first, just walking with purpose, but as they moved away from the staircase the coated lady murmured, just barely in earshot, “Today's the day we make history then, hey? I can hardly believe it. “
