Actually, even if the sword didn't shatter, you'd need to be amazingly strong to keep your arms from giving out, and even if you did block, you'd get knocked around a decent distance.

Magic swords and unusual strength go hand in hand, number two could be considered a benefit (it gets you out of range without needing to absorb everything) if you're not able to push back. Either way, being forced back or sent flying is infinitely preferable to disarmed and cut in two, no?
