I feel that the torture is discipline and not overkill, because the rp is set in a desperate time. Which desperate times call for desperate measures. That is probably why they are using children, as weapons of detructions for the survival of humanity. And the children mostly likely have to be combat ready in  a short amount of time, so punishment has to be way more extreme than normal. So Lorenzo is in-charge, because no sane person would be able to do this work.
