Religion is something I prefer not to argue/discuss about - it's finicky and unstable because deeds of one in the name of religion do not always coincide with the wants and wishes of the rest. As such you should condone the witchhunts themselves and see religion as a mere.. tool, to achieve these hunts. It doesn't mean religion is evil. It means people are.
This comment explains why I find Rivaan's original post offensive. Acts committed by a few in the name of religion should not be a reflection of the religion itself. If someone wants to judge a religion, I suggest picking up the texts associated with that religion and performing an incredibly detailed and thorough study. If someone holds that the acts of an individual can be used to judge a faith, then how about we spend some time talking about all the (far more common) good the Church did during the Dark Ages, feeding the poor, healing the sick, funding public infrastructure (schools, hospitals, ect), providing sanctuary, and last but not least, containing and caring for those infected by plague when others were too terrified to go near them. But I suppose all of those things are less sensationalized and therefore too boring to mention. Should we instead simply say "The church wasn't on its best behavior... these sound like the kinds of people I kill in video games"?
