As the vampire ran for the ledge, he heard a gun go off somewhere behind him in the distance, Allison also fired, and much to his dismay, yet not entirely unexpected, he was hit multiple times. Mithias slammed on his side onto the top of a lower building beside the apartment complex and then rolled off the slanted roof to fall down a second time to the dark alley below. Already, attention had been drawn to his location within the city. The pain was real, but it would take more than a few bullets to kill him. Fortunately, his armor had lessened the damage. Mithias lifted his head off the ground and looked up to see a bearded poor man with a bottle staring shocked at him from a nest in a pile of garbage. The man was scared shitless when a large body had suddenly fallen out of the sky into the ally right next to him. The homeless human froze. Mithias groaned and stirred. He looked up at the poor man and spit out a little blood. He had to get up and hurry. Struggling, he could stand up and walk, but he was bleeding, painful, muscles torn, and a lung punctured. Breathing wasn't all that critical in the short term, but Mithias didn't want to stick around. He staggered down the dark allyway and turned down a sidestreet, trying to get back into the forest. Thirst rose up to grip him, empowering him, but it was not safe to try to feed here. In the past, Mithias had been a tactical hunter of individual targets. He carefully studied his prey and setup his strikes. Had he just been lucky? Had he been secretly aided by his sire all this time? "...go die in a forest fire for all I care." He shook his head as the painful memory of his fathers words resurfaced. Damn his father. He hadn't meant anything he said in Oklahoma about about giving him a chance, instead abandoning him yet again, vanishing off alone in a world of humans he could manipulate to his will. What a luxury. And did he invite his son who had so wanted to remain by his side? Oh certainly not. But all purpose was not lost. The small cross weighed heavy against the vampire's chest as he walked forward, slowly picking up his pace as he began to recover. The image of soft white hair and warm red eyes lingered in his mind. He would make it back to Bedivere.
