[@CLIW] Depending on where you live may be a little different but the inner society isn't savage though some bands may be of course. So yes some are but not many, if you like you can create a Squanto like character with a juicy background, I say make them an outcast that way they know what life is like to have to hunt and gather on the island for yourself.
