I don't think it's viable to defend yourself from a jab with the forearm, it's too quick a strike and the forearm had to move too far.

It's worth mentioning that your character isn't in Fury's guard anymore, he's right at the edge of his reach, with only a small area of contact to work with. It doesn't take much time at all for Fury's arm to move into Kanitah's range and then back out again, especially with a jab.

You just have to look at how quickly someone can throw that punch to see that trying to brush it away would be incredibly difficult, it's far faster than moving ones arm up to brush it away. 

The flip side being that a jab doesn't really do much damage, from a wider standpoint.
